Retail Industry Training Organisation (RITO) has revised the qualifications
listed above.
Date new versions published
December 2007
The next qualification review is planned to
take place during 2012 for the Level 3 qualification and 2010 for the Level 4
qualification.
Reason for the
revision
The National
Certificate in Retail (Level 3) with optional strands in Bicycle Sales and
Servicing; Garden Retail; Visual Merchandising; Delicatessen; and Produce [Ref:
0994] has been revised to change the structure of the Core Elective and to
correct an error made during the last review when four Merchandising and
Marketing standards were deleted because they were present in the Visual
Merchandising optional strand.
The trainees now
have the choice to draw credits from specified domains, one subfield, and a
selection of adult education and training standards for the Core Elective. This is to give trainees the option of
gaining the qualification as a generic qualification with the flexibility to
undertake standards from various areas of the retail environment, or focus on a
specific retail area and being awarded the qualification with an optional
strand.
The National
Certificate in Retail (Level 4) [Ref: 0995] has been revised to remove standard
408 from the Elective as this standard had been designated expiring, with a
final assessment date of December 2008, following the review of some Retail,
Distribution, and Sales standards in November 2006. The Elective now offered a wider
selection of adult education and training standards. Changes resulting from the review of
standards of other SSBs were also incorporated.

revision

advantage of the wider selection of credits available. The last date for assessment of versions
3 and 4 is 31 December 2010.
National

0995]
The following changes were made to the
qualification, some of which resulted from the review of standards from other
standard setting bodies.

the Elective section.
