Revision of Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation AMAP(s)
AMAP for Building and Construction [Ref: 0048]
The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation has revised the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP) above.
Date new version published January 2008
The review of this AMAP is planned to take place during 2009.
Reason for the revision
To bring the BCITO AMAP 0048 up to date with the new NZQA template and the Criteria for Approval and Registration of NQF Accreditation and Moderation Action Plans, of March 2006.
Compliance with new requirements
Accreditation requirements will apply with effect from February 2008. Changes to Level 2 accreditation requirements are as follows:
From: Levels 1 and 2 Evaluation of documentation by NZQA and industry.
Level 3 and above Evaluation of documentation and visit by NZQA and industry.
To: Level 1 Evaluation of documentation by NZQA and industry
Level 2 Evaluation of documentation and visit by NZQA and industry.
There are industry unit standards at level 2 which have been identified as high risk in relation to health and safety, the reputation of the industry, and providers not complying with the practical aspects of the standards.
In the past, accreditation granted to new organisations has shown evidence in moderation that these untested providers have not understood the assessment and competency requirements for some of the level 2 standards.
There are no specific transition arrangements for accredited organisations as there are no level 1 standards and the specialist trade areas for level 2 are not currently active. Therefore there is little to no disadvantage to users.
Moderation system requirements will apply with effect from February 2008.
Accredited organisations will be audited for compliance with AMAP requirements from July 2008 onwards.
