The Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying ITO Ltd has completed the review of the qualifications listed above.
Date new versions published January 2008
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2012.
Summary of review and consultation process
Review of these qualifications involved an extensive consultation and feedback process that took place over a four and a half year period. Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying ITO Ltd. advisory groups and review teams for each of the plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying sectors, comprising industry and training provider representatives, took part in the review. The review of the qualifications involved an extensive review of affected standards managed by the Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying ITO Ltd. The Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Registration Board also participated in, and contributed to, the review process.
The review teams took into consideration changes to legislation and changes in technology applicable to the trades before recommending and endorsing the changes.

Changes to structure and content
· The level increased from 3 to 4
· The total credits increased from 86 to 135
· Unit standards 57, 2138, 3490, 4249, 6400-6402, 18426, 21209, 21879, 21881-21883, 21904, and 21946 were added
· Unit standards 1110 and 1111 were replaced by unit standard 23846
· Unit standard titles, levels, and credit values were updated to reflect changes made in the unit standard review.

· Unit standard 2151 was replaced by unit standards 23850 and 23851
· Unit standards 2154 and 2155 were replaced by unit standard 21885
· Unit standards 1102, 2139, 2140, and 2142 were removed
· Unit standard titles, levels, and credit values were updated to reflect changes made in the unit standard review.
Transition
People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of previous versions of these qualifications may either complete that version, or transfer to this version. The last date for entry to training programmes for previous versions of these qualifications is 31 December 2008. The last date for assessment for previous versions of these qualifications is 31 December 2011.
The National Certificate in Drainlaying [Ref: 0077] contains a standard that replaces earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standard.
