The Seafood Industry Training Organisation (SITO) has revised, reclassified, and aligned the review dates of the unit standards listed above.

The reason for this is to maintain the currency of rolled over unit standards until they can be reviewed, and to bring forward the planned review date of unit standard 17573 to match.

Date new versions published                                                          January 2008

Planned review date                                                                           December 2009

Reason for the revision and reclassification

These standards have been reclassified into the Seafood Risk Management domain.  The domain was specifically established to allow closer monitoring of standards perceived to carry a high risk factor and have high legislative compliance requirements.  This will allow education organisations to concentrate on accreditation requirements aligned to their profiled training and unit standard assessment objectives, and appropriate to their resource capability.

The revision and reclassification has been endorsed by both the Seafood Processing and Seafood Vessel Operations sectors.

Main changes resulting from the revision

·            All standards have been reclassified into the Seafood Risk Management domain;

·            Titles for unit standards 16559, 16560, 20831, 21069, and 21566 have been amended;

·            Definitions have been amended for consistency across the whole application and with more recently registered SITO unit standards;

·            Legislation and regulations have been amended for currency and accuracy;

·            Performance criteria have been updated in accordance with changes made to definitions.
