Review of Casino Surveillance qualifications

The Aviation, Tourism and Travel Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualifications listed above.

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2014.

 

Summary of review and consultation process

 

A group of industry expert representatives met and gave advice on the review of the qualifications.  Recommendations were made to remove certain standards as no longer being relevant to the industry.  Changes were made to the qualifications to more closely align them with changes in industry practice and to distinguish between the different skills and knowledge sets required by operators and supervisors.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

Changes were made to the content and credits of the qualifications.  The title of [Ref: 0407] was changed to align the title with other sector qualifications at supervisor level.

Changes to content

·      Standards 12788, 12790, and 12796 were removed from the compulsory section and standards 4645 and 9899 were removed from the elective section.

·      Standards 9871, 12774, 12781, and 25672 were added to the compulsory section, and standards 9906, 9911, 19713, 23758, 23759, and 23764 were added to the elective section.

·      Standard 9808 was removed from the compulsory section because it had expired.  It was replaced by standard 23764 in the elective section.

 

Transition

 

People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of version 2 of this qualification with credit for standards 9808, 12788, 12790, and 12796 may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to version 3.  People without credit for any of the standards listed above must transfer to version 3.  The last date for assessments to take place for version 2 is December 2011.

 

This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards.  For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards – see table below.

Changes to content

·         Standard 12794 was removed from the compulsory section and standards 9737, 11532, 11541, 11546 and 11550 were removed from the elective section.

·         Standards 1984 and 1985 were removed from the compulsory section and replaced by standards 18336 and 16342 respectively.

·         Standard 12797 was added to the compulsory section and standards 12784, 12798, 12799, 23396, 23397, 25682, 25685, 25689-25691 were added to the elective section.

 

People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of version 1 of this qualification with credit for standards 1984 and 12794 may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to version 2.  People without credit for either of the standards listed above must transfer to version 2.  People choosing to complete version 1 must gain credit for standard 1985 by December 2009.  The last date for assessments to take place for version 1 is December 2011.

Category A

The qualification is published as a new version with the same NQF ID

Changes are made to SSB name, contact details or purpose statement

No change is made to title, rules or components of the qualification

Category B

The qualification is published as a new version with the same NQF ID

Changes are made to title, rules or components

The new version of the qualification recognises a similar skill set to that recognised by the previous version
