The NZ Motor Industry Training Organisation (Inc) (MITO) has completed the review of the qualification and unit standards listed above.

Summary of review and consultation process

 

The National Certificate in Manufacturing (Leatherwork) with strands in Saddlemaking, and Leather Goods Manufacture [Ref: 0471] has only ever been awarded once since it was first registered in 1998 and there are currently no active enrolments.  MITO reviewed the qualification and determined that it is no longer fit for purpose and should be designated category D expiring.

 

Following consultation with the Industrial Textile Fabrication industry, as part of a major qualifications review, MITO designated all unit standards in the Leather Goods Manufacture and Saddlemaking domains as expiring.  The domains were also designated as expiring (lapsing).

The following qualification is no longer required by industry.  This qualification will expire at the end of December 2011 and will not be replaced.

Transition

 

No candidates have ever been signed into programmes leading to the award of this qualification through MITO.  MITO is not aware of any providers that have been or are offering programmes leading to this qualification.  No transition arrangements were required, so the last date for assessments to take place was set as 31 December 2011.

Review of Leather Goods Manufacture and Saddlemaking unit standards

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

All of the reviewed unit standards were designated expiring and not replaced.  The Leather Goods Manufacture and Saddlemaking domains were also designated as expiring (lapsing).

 

There were no candidates enrolled in programmes leading to assessment against these unit standards, so no transition arrangements were required.

 

Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2011.
