Summary

 

Unit standard 25425 has been revised as a result of feedback from the Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying ITO Projects Leader for Literacy & Numeracy, Gateway assessors, and advice from an Institute of Technology and Polytechnic's tutor of pre-trade trainees.

 

The Literacy Projects Leader recommended an extension of the range of calculations.  This revision was endorsed by other providers, Southern Institute of Technology and Whitireia Polytechnic, Taieri School Trade Academy and the ITO industry moderators.

 

The revision ensured that all calculations necessary to prepare candidates for meeting the requirements of registration as a plumber, gasfitter, or drainlayer were captured and brought the content of the standard into line with the needs of pre-trade and Gateway courses in schools.

 

The revision aligned the language with that used in the Mathematics and Statistics Learning Area of the New Zealand Curriculum.

 

Main changes

 

·      Outcomes and evidence requirements have been reworded to enhance the clarity of the requirements.

·      Range statements have been reworded and added under some outcomes.

·      The title of the standard was amended for consistency with the outcomes.
