InfraTrain New Zealand Ltd has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published November 2011
Planned review date December 2016
Summary
These unit standards were reviewed as part of a project to develop the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering Practice (NZDEP). The review was carried out by a Diploma Lead Group, acting under delegation from the New Zealand Board for Engineering Diplomas (NZBED). The Diploma Lead Group was made up of industry training organisation (ITO) and New Zealand Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (NZITP) representatives.
The reviewed unit standards were updated and carefully mapped to the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand Competence Standard for Engineering Technicians. The updated versions of the unit standards were developed through an extensive process which included consultation through Lead Group and individual ITO networks; including large, medium and small companies in the industry, workplace assessors, and ITO regional staff. New unit standards were developed for use in civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering.
Main changes
· Unit standards 17298, 17301, and 23410 were replaced by newly developed unit standards which meet the requirements of industry.
· Six additional unit standards were developed for the electrical and mechanical engineering sectors - three for each sector.
Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2014
