Summary
The unit standards were reviewed under the supervision of industry experts from a variety of museum types, including the National Museum, large provincial museums, and specialist museums. The reviewed standards were endorsed by the group.
Main changes
· Explanatory notes on compliance and legal obligations were updated in all standards.
· The definition of Museum policy and practice was updated in all standards.
· New standards 29572 and 29571 were developed to recognise the acquisition of skills for exhibitions and public programmes at an introductory level.
· Minor technical changes were made to standards to match current museum practice terminology and processes.
· Standard 26083 was designated expiring and the content of standard 20542 covering preventive conservation was strengthened accordingly.
· The credit value of standard 20541 was increased to reflect the learning and assessment required to achieve competence in this area.
· The credit value of standard 20542 was increased to reflect the additional learning and assessment required for preventive conservation work.
The last date for assessment of superseded versions of category B unit standards is December 2018
Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2018
