The Skills Organisation has completed the review of the qualifications listed above.
Replacement qualification
New Zealand Certificate in Roofing (Installation) (Level 4) with strands in Concrete or Clay Tile Roof; Profiled Metal Roof and Wall Cladding; Metal Tile Roof; Roof Membrane Systems; Shingle or Slate Roof [Ref: 3512]
Date new versions published July 2016
The next qualification review is planned to take place by 31 December 2021.
Summary of review and consultation process
A mandatory sector review of qualifications in the Construction sector took place during 2011 to 2013. The review included broad consultation with industry and training provider stakeholders to ensure that the new qualification would meet current and future needs, and resulted in the recommendation that the National Certificate in Roofing (Installer) with strands in Concrete Roof Tiles, Metal Roofing and Wall Cladding, Metal Roof Tiles, Roof Membrane, Liquid Roof Membrane, Torch on Roof Membrane, and Roof Shingle, and with an optional strand in Foreperson [Ref: 0375] be replaced by the New Zealand Certificate in Roofing (Installation) (Level 4) with strands in Concrete or Clay Tile Roof; Profiled Metal Roof and Wall Cladding; Metal Tile Roof; Roof Membrane Systems; Shingle or Slate Roof [Ref: 3512]. The replacement New Zealand qualification has been registered and the National qualification has been designated expiring.
The National Certificate in Roofing (Contract Supervisor) [Ref: 1264] has been discontinued due to lack of use.

Transition
The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualification is 31 December 2018. The last date to meet the requirements of the replaced qualification is 31 December 2020. People working towards the replaced qualification may either complete the requirements by 31 December 2020 or transfer their results to the replacement qualification.
It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to The Skills Organisation at the address below:
