Summary
The revision of the unit standard was prompted by feedback which indicated that the credit value did not fully reflect the amount time required for learning, practice and assessment. This resulted in a change in credit value from 2 to 3 credits.
The unit standard was also revised to clarify the intended outcomes and evidence requirements of the standard as feedback suggested that the outcomes and evidence requirements were not coherent and the quality measurement of some evidence requirements was not flexible enough to accommodate a range of settings.
In order to future-proof the standard against potential changes or future amendments to relevant regulatory, legislative and ethical frameworks, the explanatory notes were revised to remove reference to specific standards and refer instead to organisational standards which encompass current and relevant regulatory, legislative and ethical frameworks.
Consultation on the changes was carried out with key sector representatives to seek feedback and endorsement.
