Summary of review and consultation process

The Aviation qualifications have been reviewed as part of their five-year cycle.  The review involved extensive consultation with stakeholders working in and with the industry, most significantly the Aviation New Zealand Training and Development Division, and the Civil Aviation Authority.  Consultation included meetings to discuss the need to review the qualifications, and subsequent meetings considered the proposed content of the qualifications.

As a result of structural changes to clarify strands and graduate outcomes, it was deemed necessary to register new (replacement) qualifications with new NZQF IDs.

The existing New Zealand qualifications have been replaced as detailed below.

Transition

As these qualifications are different in design to the replaced New Zealand qualifications, it is the industry and SSB's preference and recommendation for trainees to enter into programmes leading to the new qualifications.

People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the replaced qualifications may either complete the requirements by 31 December 2021 or transfer to one of the new qualifications.

The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualifications is 31 December 2019.

The last date for assessments to take place for the replaced qualifications is 31 December 2021 at which time they will be designated as discontinued.

It is the intention of ServiceIQ that no existing trainee should be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements.  Any person who considers they have been disadvantaged may appeal to:
