Summary of review and consultation process
Feedback from industry triggered an early review of these qualifications.
MITO commenced an early review of these qualifications with industry stakeholders to ensure they accurately reflected the needs of the commercial road transport industry. Recommendations were made by industry stakeholders to ensure these qualifications accurately reflect the skills and knowledge required of graduates.
Conditions on graduate profile outcomes which placed unnecessary restrictions on learners’ ability to complete the qualifications were removed.
The New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Level 2) [Ref: 3088] was increased to a Level 3 qualification to align with NZQA level descriptors.

Transition
The last date for assessment to take place for programmes leading to version 1 of these qualifications is 31 December 2020. People working towards version 1 of these qualifications may either complete the requirements by 31 December 2020 or transfer their results to the replacement version.
It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to MITO New Zealand Incorporated at the address below. Appeals will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
