Skills Active Aotearoa Limited has reviewed the qualification listed above.
Date new versions published February 2019
The next qualification review is planned to take place by February 2024.
Reason for the review
This qualification has reached its planned review date.
Summary of review and consultation process
Consultation undertaken with the industry confirmed that the qualification is still needed and is relevant. The review was informed by discussion at a senior level and by consistency review results, which the stakeholders concurred with. This resulted in no significant changes in required skills and knowledge, and changes to graduate outcomes which do not affect the intent.
It was noted that changes were required to the conditions to clarify any confusion regarding the total number of audits required for the Adventure Activities optional strand.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Graduate profile and qualification conditions reviewed to align with NZQA guidelines.
· The wording of GPOs 1-4 was simplified, with no change to intent.
· GPO 5 was amended to ensure it accurately reflects the required skills and knowledge. Graduates are not expected to train or mentor safety managers in recreation organisations. Rather, they are expected to be able to communicate effectively while undertaking audits.
· Qualification and programme conditions were updated.
· Structure was amended to align with new qualification template.
· A new review date was set.
