Summary

 

As a result of the review of the Dairy Processing qualifications two dairy processing engineering qualifications were developed.  New Level 3 and 4 unit standards were developed to meet the requirements of the qualifications graduate outcomes.  Existing unit standards relevant to dairy industry automation, electrical and mechanical were reviewed and considered not fit for purpose based on the graduate outcomes within the dairy processing engineering qualifications.  In consultation with industry the unit standards were designated expiring.

 

Consultation was carried out in August 2020 where consent to assess holders had the opportunity to give comment on the email sent asking for feedback on unit standards.  This feedback was addressed where appropriate.

 

Main changes

 

·         Standard 28649 credit value was increased to 8 credits to reflect learning hours recommended from industry feedback.

·         Six Dairy Processing - Core Skills standards were designated expiring since they are no longer required by industry.

·         10 Dairy Processing - Core skills standards were developed to meet industry job role requirements.

·         Re-registered standards were updated to reflect the current template.

 

Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2022

 

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2023
