Summary of review and consultation process |
|
The qualification was reviewed by a working group comprised of industry representatives. The review highlighted that the qualification did not sufficiently reflect the complexity of the current timber structure detailing role due to an overemphasis on knowledge of the fabrication process and an under-emphasis on building standards, design and engineering principles and the project and process management required to ensure that timber framing is detailed to building compliance. Consultation included: - initial face-face-face meeting to discuss the current qualification and outline the key skills, knowledge and attributes currently required. - site visits to undertake task analysis for the detailer role. - extensive consultation with the working party to confirm the details of the replacement qualification. - The outcome of the review was the replacement of the current New Zealand Certificate in Frame and Truss Detailing (Level 4) [Ref: 2085] with the New Zealand Diploma in Timber Structure Detailing (Level 5) [Ref: 4377]. |
