Summary
The review of these unit standards was prompted by the outcomes of the mandatory review of qualifications, specifically:
· New Zealand Certificate in Introductory Snowschool Instruction (Applied) (Level 4) with strands in Ski, Snowboard, Telemark and Cross-country [Ref: 3492]
· New Zealand Certificate in Intermediate Snowschool Instruction (Applied) (Level 5) with strands in Ski, Snowboard, Telemark and Cross-country [Ref: 3496].
Feedback from stakeholders including industry experts and current users of the unit standards was gathered through an open consultation process.
Main changes
· Minor amendments were made to language within the unit standards for readability and to ensure they are fit for purpose and aligned with current industry practice.
· Legislation was updated for currency.
· Unit standards were updated to align with current NZQA template requirements.
· Changes were made to the titles and outcomes of 30226, 30230, 30231, 30233, 30234, 30235, 30354, 30355, and 30356 to reflect the clarification of instruction level in the Level 5 qualification from advanced to intermediate.
· Four new unit standards were developed to meet industry needs for the cross-country discipline.
