Summary of review and consultation process |
During the April 2020 review of the New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Fault Response and Switching) (Level 4) with strands [Ref: 3586] the transmission-specific strands were removed. These strands had not been used because the programme at the time was more suited to Distribution than Transmission context. However, it was noted that a new qualification was required in maintenance switching specific to the Transmission sector. At that time a decision was made to further investigate developing a new qualification to meet the learning needs of the transmission context. Waihanga Ara Rau Workforce Development Council were requested to progress the development of new qualifications in transmission maintenance switching in April 2022. This is a key risk area in transmission. During the development, field operation was identified as a precursor to maintenance switching, and two separate qualifications were proposed, at Level 4 and at Level 5. S Stakeholders were consulted by email, Teams meeting and via the Waihanga Ara Rau website before the final drafts of the qualifications were endorsed. |
Main changes resulting from the review |
Registration of the New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Transmission Operational Switching) (Level 4) [Ref: 4747] and New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Transmission Operating Sequence Control) (Level 5) [Ref: 4748]. |
