Summary

Version 4 of this unit standard was published on 25 May 2023 following a revision in which ‘trapping’ was added to the range of performance criterion 3.2. Inclusion of trapping in this standard followed a formal request from the coroner. A definition for trapping was also added in the Guidance Information.

Feedback from Careerforce Te Toi Pūkenga suggested that the definition of trapping in version 4 of the unit standard was too narrow, and that performance criterion 3.1 should be amended to make trapping compulsory.

Main changes

· The definition of trapping in Guidance Information has been replaced by a broader definition.

· The range statement for performance criterion 3.1 has been amended to make trapping compulsory.

· The range statement for performance criterion 3.2 has been amended to remove trapping as a compulsory item; it remains as an optional item.

· The Last Date of Assessment for Version 3 of this standard has been extended to 31 December 2024, allowing providers to design assessment against Version 5 of the standard.
