Summary of review and consultation process |
Key qualification review, development and consultation phases: Input and feedback from key stakeholders were invited and incorporated into the review. Key phases in the process included: · Pre-review survey on Toi Mai’s website. · Exercise Industry Wānanga held in Wellington in September 2022 attended by industry and provider representatives to discuss the current state of the industry, future trends, opportunities and training needs; and identify changes required to existing qualifications. · Formation of advisory groups followed by advisory group meetings to discuss and receive their feedback and work through the review of the qualifications. · Open public consultation – via the Toi Mai website and through advisory group networks. · Stakeholder endorsement of review outcomes – via email and online meetings.

Main changes resulting from the review |
New Zealand Certificate in Exercise (Level 4) · Minor change to the strategic purpose statement. · Graduate profile wording amended to better reflect content relating to business practices, the general population and group exercise; and five credits from GPO 2 (anatomy and physiology) moved to GPO 1 (delivery) to more accurately reflect the distribution of the qualification content. · Qualification award, evidence requirement and transition statements updated. General conditions expanded to include diversity and inclusion statement, and legislation statements updated. New Zealand Certificate in Exercise (Level 5) · Minor change to the strategic purpose statement. · Graduate profile wording amended to better reflect content relating to business and professional skills, and allied health professional networks; and the word advanced removed from the GPOs as this is reflected in the strategic purpose statement. · Qualification award, evidence requirement and transition statements updated. · General conditions expanded to include diversity and inclusion statement, and legislation statements updated. New Zealand Diploma in Exercise (Level 6) This qualification is to be expired following stakeholder feedback and evidence of no usage.
