Summary
This unit standard was reviewed because it had passed its scheduled review date. Consultation was undertaken between 5 October 2002 and 16 December 2022. The consultation included representatives from Toitū te Waiora, Te Pūkenga, and sector representatives who responded to the consultation notification.
The review panel also made recommendations around terminology and resource materials for the Guidance Information, which have been incorporated in the new version.
Main changes
· The single outcome was split into four outcomes to clarify the assessment requirements.
· The requirements were amended to require knowledge of both Treaty partners, Tangata Whenua and Tangata Tiriti. A third requirement for one other culture was added to allow assessment against a culture not represented by Te Tiriti o Waitangi but which has relevance to the candidate. The third requirement was balanced in terms of credit value against the removal of the requirement for self-reflection.
· Resources were added to the Guidance Information to assist with development of assessment resources and learning.
· The assessment conditions were amended to make clear that development theories do not necessarily have to be drawn from textbooks.
