Summary

 

The unit standard was reviewed and amended to reflect changes made to practice in the health sector.  The review was undertaken alongside the Te Whatu Ora between October 2022 and March 2023.  Consultation was undertaken with the course providers and those with consent to assess against the standard. The changes were gazetted for public consultation on Toitū te Waiora’s website during November 2022.

 

Main changes

 

·      Reference documents, statutes, and regulations were updated to reflect current practice.

·      Terms and language were updated to better reflect current expectations.

·      Outcome 2 was added to reflect the place of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

·      Outcome 4 was added to reflect the requirement for health professionals to be able to provide instruction to a cervical screening participant about how to take an HPV self-test.

·      An outcome was added to reflect the place of Te Tiriti o Waitangi – The Treaty of Waitangi in health outcomes for the peoples of Aotearoa New Zealand.

·      Technical requirements specified in the outcomes and criteria were updated to reflect current practice.

 

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is 31 March 2024.
