Summary of review and consultation process

 

For a detailed description of the NCEA Change Programme and the review process of the achievement standards across the New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa (TMoA), refer to the NCEA Education website.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

·         As part of the NCEA change programme, 117 new achievement standards were developed over 2021-2022 to align with the review of National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 1 [Ref: 0928].  These will replace the current achievement standards at Level 1. 

·         The new achievement standards will be available to use from 1st January 2024. Details relating to the newly developed achievement standards can be found in a separate change report for November 2023 here.

·         343 achievement standards listed below will expire on 31 December 2023.

For transition purposes, exclusions will apply for new achievement standards.  Refer to the updated Exclusions List on the NZQA website.
