Summary of development/review and consultation process |
Toitū te Waiora advertised the review of the above qualification on its website in June 2023. All associated stakeholders were invited to provide feedback. This feedback was collated over a two-week period consisting of email and face to face meetings via online Teams. An advisory group made up of learners, providers, the union and industry representatives reviewed all feedback collated on behalf of its stakeholder group. The advisory group met twice to discuss and finalise the qualification review. Decisions made by this group were sent to its stakeholders for final feedback, and this was actioned, where appropriate. The final draft of the reviewed qualification was published on the Toitū te Waiora website and a notification was sent to all stakeholders in August 2023. |
Main changes resulting from the development/review process |
· The qualification title was changed to align with the Corrections Act 2004, which refers to ‘prisoner’ rather than offender’. This change was made throughout the qualification document. · Strategic purpose statement was updated to include a social and cultural aspirations sentence. · GPO 2 updated to current industry terminology. · Education pathway updated to reflect the New Zealand Certificate in Prisoner Management (Level 4) [Ref: 2659]. · Employment pathway was updated to include current industry terminology for employment positions. · Evidence requirements for consistency statement were updated. · General conditions were updated to include current industry terminology, legislation, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and other programme endorsement requirements. |

The last date for assessment of version 2 of this qualification is 31 December 2025. It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements.
