Summary
In March 2022, unit standard 29479 was reviewed by Waihanga Ara Rau WDC and designated expiring with a last date of assessment of 31 December 2023. The change report related to this review can be found at nzqa.govt.nz/nqfdocs/summaries/2023/May23/RevSumMay23-26.html.
Following the March 2022 review, Waihanga Ara Rau WDC received feedback that this would disadvantage learners enrolled in programmes of study leading to qualifications that incorporate unit standard 29479. The feedback also confirmed the continuing suitability of the standard and that there are no other similar standards that can be used to replace unit standard 29479 without requiring significant alteration before use.
In September 2023, the technical advisory group reviewing Electrical Engineering unit standards confirmed that there are no similar standards available to replace this unit standard in programmes of study. Therefore, the decision was made to overturn the expiry of unit standard 29479.
Main changes
· AS/NZS 3000:2018 (current version) is not yet cited in the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010. To address this, the two sector regulators, WorkSafe New Zealand, and the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB), have agreed that any reference to AS/NZS 3000 in the unit standards will be written as “AS/NZS 3000 (version as cited in the Electricity (Safety) Regulations), Electrical Installations (known as the Australian/New Zealand Wiring Rules)”.
· The standard setting body was changed to Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council.
· The status of the unit standard was updated from expiring to current.
