Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council (WDC) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published September 2023
Planned review date December 2028
Summary
The review of five unit standards in the Monumental Masonry domain and 24 unit standards in the Stonemasonry domain was initiated due to the review of the New Zealand Certificate in Stonemasonry (Level 4) with strands in Monumental Masonry, Construction Stonemasonry, and Natural Stone Fixtures and Fittings (with optional strands in Banker Masonry, and Conservation and Preservation) [Ref: 2737-2] which was published in July 2021. The unit standards required updating to better reflect industry requirements.
Consultation was conducted from November 2022 to January 2023 with providers who have consent to assess, industry peak bodies, Stonemason’s Association, and New Zealand Master Monumental Mason’s Association, and industry representation. Wider industry consultation and input was provided during the qualification review in 2021, and the technical advisory group recommended changes to the unit standards to align with industry practice and the updated qualification.
Main changes
· Titles of 16 unit standards have been updated to better align with the content.
· Guidance information section and references have been updated for currency and to better reflect industry requirements.
· Minor wording changes to all unit standards to reflect industry skill and knowledge expectations more precisely.
· Credit values have been modified for 11 unit standards to more accurately reflect the learning and assessment hours.
