Registration of Carpentry Skill Standard
Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council has registered a new skill standard in the Carpentry domain for the timber structure manufacturing industry.
Date new version published February 2024
Planned review date December 2028
Summary
Following the review of the New Zealand Certificate in Timber Structure Manufacture (Level 3) [Ref: 4319] which resulted in the addition of a new strand in Flooring Cassette Manufacture, new skill standard 40000 Manufacture a timber flooring cassette was developed to recognise the competencies required to achieve this strand of the qualification.
This new standard was developed in consultation with technical advisory group representing Frame and Truss Manufacturers Association (FTMA) members, frame and truss manufacturing businesses both large and medium and BCITO Te Pūkenga as the only provider of this qualification. Online consultation meetings were held through May and June to develop the new standard. Wider consultation on the new standard was provided through the Waihanga Ara Rau website and extended to FTMA membership. The technical advisory group supports the development of the new standard.
