Summary of development/review and consultation process |
Qualification group meetings were held in September and October 2022 and in February 2023. These were arranged to develop the initial proposal from industry for a qualification strand to be added to the New Zealand Certificate in Engineering Fabrication (Trade) Level 4 [Ref: 2719]. Once developed and following peer review of the strand, industry found that learners working in plastics would be unable to fully meet with the core requirements of the qualification. Solutions were proposed and modelled but the impact on the rearrangement of the qualification appeared significant and out of scope for development of a new strand. A decision was made to stop development of the strand and to request development of a new qualification. Stakeholders advised on the importance of maintaining alignment with the engineering certificate where applicable, emphasising that the plastics fabrication industry is closely aligned with engineering trades. |
