Date new version published March 2024
Planned review date December 2028
Summary
Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council consulted with representatives from the industry association MAKE | NZ, industry consultants LMAC, training providers and employers to undertake new skill standard and micro-credential development for digital manufacturing. Online meetings were held with a technical advisory group between May and October 2023. Wider consultation with the manufacturing sector and training providers was also undertaken with two online drop-in sessions held in October 2023.
Following the success of the Digital Skills in Manufacturing micro-credential, the manufacturing sector requested Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council to develop the next step on the digital manufacturing training pathway, which has resulted in the development of a new skill standard. This is intended to be used in a new Digital Systems for Manufacturing micro-credential. It is aimed at providing training to front-line leaders and their teams to provide underpinning knowledge to support the adoption of digital systems in manufacturing. It can also be used in other sectors such as distribution, where manufacturing systems may be used as a component but not the sole focus of the organisations activities.
