Date new versions published March 2024
Planned review date December 2028
Summary
Muka Tangata conducted a review of the above Level 2 unit standards within the forestry suite, covering qualifications and standards from Levels 2-6. The mandatory 5-year review cycle, originally scheduled to commence in 2024, was mutually agreed by Muka Tangata and industry to be brought forward to June 2023.
Consultations with forestry industry working groups and providers with consent to assess took place from September to December 2023.
Main changes
· Nine unit standards did not undergo full consultation and were rolled over to allow them to be used in programmes while further development of skill standards takes place.
· Title change for unit standard 6917 to include “non-forestry production operations” and a credit value reduction from 12 to 10 to reflect realistic notional learning and assessment time, both at the request of industry.
· Unit standard 17769 removed performance criteria 4.2, 4.3, 5.4 and 5.5 as industry suggested these exceeded the knowledge required by a Level 2 ākonga/learner.
· Credit value increase for unit standard 27966 from 3 to 5 at the request of forestry industry to reflect realistic notional learning and assessment time.
