Strategic Purpose Statement
This qualification is for people wanting to gain general user interface design skills and knowledge required to work in a junior role in a digital/web design environment. It is designed for people already employed or those who wish to be employed in the digital/web design industry.

The digital/web design industry and creative and cultural sector in Aotearoa New Zealand will benefit by having people trained in general user interface design.

Graduates will be capable of assisting in the design and production of user interface in web and other digital environments.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Demonstrate practical and conceptual visual communication and problem solving skills for designing user interfaces.
- Apply a range of current tools and principles used in the design of applications.
- Demonstrate effective use of a design process to meet requirements of project briefs.
- Analyse and evaluate own user interface design work and the work of others.
- Self-manage user interface project briefs within defined guidelines.
- Self-manage, work collaboratively, and demonstrate basic leadership skills within a digital design team.
- Operate professionally in a user interface design environment.

Graduates of this qualification may wish to undertake further tertiary study at diploma or degree level in the fields of web design and development, or creative arts.

Credits

The credit value relates to the size of the qualification. One credit equates to ten hours of learning. One year's full-time study at a provider is usually 120 credits, but if you are studying part-time or in the work place the credit value may vary.
