Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the architectural aluminium joinery industry with graduates who are able to operate as installers in architectural aluminium joinery companies.
This qualification is suitable for, and will benefit people who are intending to, or are already working as installers and who wish to enhance their capabilities in the architectural aluminium joinery industry.
Graduates will be able to work unsupervised and demonstrate commercial competence installing architectural aluminium joinery items.

The optional Repair and Maintenance strand is available for joinery installers who are seeking to develop skills that are required to repair and maintain architectural aluminium products.

The Retrofit Glass strand is available for learners who have completed or are completing the Repair and Maintenance strand and seek to develop skills required to retrofit glass to aluminium joinery products.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply knowledge of legislation, industry standards, health and safety practices, codes of practice and workplace procedures to the production and installation of architectural aluminium joinery products.
- Apply knowledge of specifications, sketches, and plans to support the installation of architectural aluminium joinery products.
- Select materials and work methods to install architectural aluminium joinery products.
- Install aluminium windows and doors.
- Apply knowledge of glazing systems for glaze frames.

Graduates of the Repairs and Maintenance strand will also be able to:
- Repair architectural aluminium joinery products
- Maintain architectural aluminium joinery products

Graduates of the Retrofit Glass strand will also be able to:
- Retrofit glass to architectural aluminium joinery products
Education pathways
This qualification can build on from the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (Level 2) [Ref: 0973] Construction and Infrastructure Vocational Pathway.
Graduates of this qualification could progress onto New Zealand Certificate in Architectural Aluminium Joinery (Joiner) (Level 4) with optional strand in Computer Numerical Controlled Machinery (Ref 2943)
This qualification may also lead into further higher-level study of other New Zealand construction-related trades or management qualifications.
Employment pathways
Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge required to work as architectural aluminium installers.
Graduates within the optional strands may also go on to
- Perform repairs and maintenance on architectural aluminium joinery.

Entry Requirements
The Retrofit Glass optional strand may only be completed concurrently with, or on completion of, the strand in Repairs and Maintenance

Credits
