Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide New Zealand organisations with people who have the skills and knowledge to lead and champion improvements in client-centred case management practice, manage with a client-centred approach complex and specialist cases, and provide professional leadership to case managers and in policy development.

Graduates will operate with a high level of responsibility and discretion within their organisation and may be able to speak on behalf of their organisation and stand in for management as required.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Interpret relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures to provide subject matter expertise to case managers, the organisation's management, and other stakeholders, to ensure the efficient management of cases.
- Identify, assess, and ensure management of significant risks and legal or political implications within cases to ensure the protection of all parties and the effective provision of services.
- Reflect on own professional and ethical behaviour, and model excellent communication, interpersonal, conflict management, and self-management skills and strategies in New Zealand's diverse, bi- and multicultural environment.
- Build and maintain effective internal, inter-agency/ organisation, and external networks and critical relationships to ensure efficient progression of cases.
- Manage specialist and escalated cases and complaints.
- Contribute to the development of new organisational policies and procedures, advise on development of practice notes, and lead and champion improvements in case management practice.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring in case management and act as an interface between case managers and management.
- Promote engagement with the vision, values, purpose, and operation of the organisation.
Education pathways
This qualification builds on the New Zealand Certificate in Case Management (Level 5) [Ref: 3630].

Graduates of this qualification may progress to business, management, or leadership qualifications at Level 6 or above, or a variety of graduate and postgraduate training relevant to the context of their employment or interests.
Employment pathways
Graduates of this qualification will be senior practitioners who have the skills and knowledge to work in roles that require the application of legislation, regulations, and an extensive understanding of industry processes and practices to manage specialist and complex cases and guide others in managing complex aspects of cases.

These might include principal case manager, senior case manager, subject matter expert, case management advisor, principal policy developer, technical claims manager, case management team leader, and trainer.
