Schools are responsible for implementing policies and procedures for compassionate consideration for Levels 1 and 2 Visual Arts external standards as assessment takes place in schools. There is no compassionate consideration process for Scholarship. Compassionate consideration is available for candidates entered in Level 3 Visual Arts external assessment in 2006. Processes and due dates differ from the compassionate consideration process for examinations because of the need to identify folios for review at the assessment venue. Compassionate consideration applications for Level 3 Visual Arts external assessment are made through the Principal’s Nominee and the folio of work must be labelled as subject to a compassionate consideration on arrival at the venue. Completed application forms are sent to NZQA are to arrive no later than Thursday 16 November 2006. The application form contains sections to be completed by the candidate, a medical practitioner (if required) and the school. Only one application is required for one or more Level 3 Visual Arts external standards, but each folio must carry a coloured label identifying it as a compassionate consideration application. Labels will be mailed to schools by Friday 20 October 2006. EnquiriesCirculars are available from the Qualifications Authority website (www.nzqa.govt.nz/publications/circulars).
