An application form is included with the PDF version of this circular. Applications are due at NZQA by Friday 6 March 2009. Candidates may apply for one of three reconsiderations: Candidates may apply for a reconsideration of their 2008 results. Application forms are available from the school's Principal's Nominee and an application form is attached to this circular. Please duplicate as necessary. Candidates are advised to seek advice from their school before deciding whether to apply for a reconsideration in Visual Arts. A reconsideration should only be applied for where there is such a significant difference between the expectations of a candidate's school and the candidate's final result that all parties suspect that an assessment or processing error may have occurred. The candidate's Visual Arts teacher can advise candidates whether there are reasonable grounds for suspecting that an error has occurred and whether it is worthwhile paying for a reconsideration. ApplicationsApplicants must complete the application form and pay a fee for each standard/subject portfolio to be reconsidered. Completed forms should be submitted with a cheque for the correct amount accompanied by high quality A4 colour photographs of the candidate's work authenticated by their Visual Arts teacher. The applicant's workbook must accompany reconsideration applications for NZ Scholarship. FeesLevel 3 $20 per standard NZ Scholarship $30 per field TimelineAll applications must arrive by Friday 6 March 2009. Applications received after this date will not be considered. Reviews are undertaken by the marking Panel Leader and will be completed in the third week of March. Responses to applications will be sent to candidates in late March 2009 after the marking panels have completed all reconsiderations. The response will indicate whether an error has been detected. As in other subjects, Panel Leaders assess the work in relation to national benchmarks. They do not comment on the quality of the work of individual candidates.EnquiriesCirculars are available from the Qualifications authority website (www.nzqa.govt.nz/publications/circulars).
