A2009/011 - 3 April 2009Assessment Format Change for 2009 - PhysicsThe Assessment Specifications for Physics levels 1-3 were updated in March 2009 to include the following information about the assessment format for the 2009 examination papers: Within each paper all questions will provide opportunity for all grades of performance - Achievement, Achievement with Merit and Achievement with Excellence; there are no stand-alone questions for lower achievement grades. Candidates should attempt all questions. In previous years, papers contained questions for which candidates could gain A or M only. This year each question will contain opportunities to achieve either A, M or E. The question format will appear the same to candidates as in previous years with each question containing a number of part-questions. While in previous years each part-question received a grade, this year there will be a single grade for each question overall. It is important for candidates to attempt all questions to the best of their ability.
