Update on ACE quality assurance project

Consultation Update

A consultation analysis report will present the findings from the recent consultation on the proposed quality assurance arrangements for providers of adult and community education (ACE).

Government has signalled its intention to introduce new quality assurance arrangements for ACE providers, to be implemented in a staged way from 2005.

As a result, NZQA consulted with ACE providers, relevant quality assurance bodies and interested organisations and individuals between April and June 2004. The aim of the consultation process was to seek feedback on the proposed quality assurance arrangements and to inform stakeholders about the quality assurance arrangements.

The report will analyse over 130 postal and online survey responses, along with feedback from the focus group workshops. This report will be publicly available later this year.

The proposed quality assurance arrangements will be revised and refined in light of feedback from both the consultation process and from outcomes of a small-scale trial of the new quality assurance arrangements. The trial is being conducted with a range of ACE providers between July and September 2004.
