Unit standards for key competencies

National Qualifications Services of NZQA is developing unit standards with a focus on key competencies in two areas: new standards for personal financial management and a large development to include the review of unit standards in SubField Core Generic.

Key competencies are the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours that everyone needs as a learner, a worker, and a family and community member. They are relevant to all people in a wide variety of contexts.

Key competencies go beyond the traditional skills and knowledge basis for unit standards and include relevant literacy and numeracy needs.

If you're interested in helping develop these standards, contact Michel Norrish at 04 463 3149 or at michel.norrish@nzqa.govt.nz.
