Quality Assurance onQ The Qualifications Authority is developing a new approach to quality assurance: the 'quality assurance system' - QAS. Correction - Chrysalis College of Early Childhood Education New Chief Executive for Qualifications Authority The new chief executive of the Qualifications Authority, Dr Norman Kingsbury, has taken up office. Thumbs up from Schools in the know Schools with the greatest experience have endorsed the benefits of using unit standards and the Authority's new approach to moderation. Bill Lennox reports on feedback from the fifteen schools involved in the 1999 trial of moderation by "assessment review". From the ITOs National Certificates Alive and Well in Schools From 2001, school curriculum subjects will use the new achievement standards. They can also continue to incorporate a range of industry-related unit standards into senior school programmes. In the meantime, existing unit standards continue to have a place in most schools. Call Centre Qualifications Whenever you get a live voice answering the telephone in a large organisation, you are probably in touch with a call centre. The new National Certificate in Call Centre Operations (level 3) will now be the focus of training for call centre staff. Wellington Stadium Staff on the Framework Framework unit standards are at the centre of an innovative training scheme for workers at Wellington's new stadium. New National Certificates and National Diplomas More than 28 300 National Certificates and Diplomas have been awarded (about 10 000 of those this year) and more than 455 000 learners are registered for the Framework.
