Māori and National Certificates

Information taken from the Qualifications Authority's Māori publication, Ao Kawe Kupu.

  • Forty tutors and trainers from Māori PTEs collected their Massey University Advanced Certificates and Advanced Diplomas of Tertiary Teaching, most on their way to Bachelor of Education degrees.
  • Mana Wahine unit standards now registered on the Framework are expected to enhance Māori studies and women's studies courses.
  • More than one quarter of workplace assessors registered with Te Kaiawhina Ahumahi (the social services ITO) are Māori .
  • Māori public sector unit standards have been registered and workplace assessors have been trained by the Public Sector Training Organisation.
  • Hui held in Kaitaia, Hamilton and Gisborne have heightened interest in unit standards in Māori Business Management.
  • New qualifications on the way include National Certificates in Raranga and Māori Performing Arts, and National Diplomas in Raranga, Reo Māori , Whakairo and Māori Performing Arts.
