Top Scholar Award Ceremony

New Zealand Scholarship exams enable students to be assessed against challenging standards, and are demanding for the most able students in each subject.

New Zealand’s top secondary students had their success celebrated at the annual Top Scholar Awards hosted at Government House by His Excellency, Lieutenant General, The Right Honourable, Sir Jerry Mateparae on 27 April 2012.

The awards recognised the 35 elite students that make up the 2011 Premier Award and Top Subject Scholarship Award winners.

The Honourable Hekia Parata, Minister of Education co-presented the awards alongside His Excellency. Both posed for photos with the Scholars and offered congratulations on their achievements.

The Minister of Education also presented the Prime Minister’s Award for academic excellence on behalf of the Prime Minister, The Right Honourable, John Key.

The official presentations were followed by light refreshments and a tour of Government House for the Scholars.
