Prime Minister's Award 2010

Minister of Education, the Honourable Anne Tolley has initiated a new award for the top New Zealand scholarship student.

The Prime Minister’s Award for Academic Excellence recognises the success of the very top Scholarship student in New Zealand.

The winner of the inaugural award was announced by the Prime Minister the Right Honourable. John Key at Government House on 10 May 2011.

The winner of the Prime Minister’s Award for Academic Excellence has the most outstanding scholarship examination results and the highest overall academic excellence out of all the Premier Award Winners.

The first winner of Prime Minister’s Award for Academic Excellence is David Bellamy from Christ’s College.

David Bellamy is a Premier Award winner, is Top Scholar in Chemistry and has been awarded six Outstanding Scholarship awards in: English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Statistics and Modelling and Mathematics with Calculus. 

Prime Minister, John Key who presented the award said, “Congratulations David. You have proven yourself a worthy winner of such an award.

And congratulations to all the Top Scholars on your achievements here, you have already set yourself on a pathway to succeed in the future.”
