Scholarship Performance Standard Statistics and Modelling
Mode of Assessment Written Examination
For Year 2012

Format of the assessment

Individual questions may cover the content of more than one level 3 Statistics and Modelling achievement standards and may include concepts covered in levels 1 and 2 Mathematics.

Equipment to bring

An approved calculator is required.

Resources or information supplied

The level 3 Statistics and Modelling Useful Formulae sheet in detachable form will be provided, and incorporated within the question booklet. A separate answer booklet will be provided where candidates will be expected to set out their own answers.

Special notes

It is expected that all relevant working will be shown. Unless otherwise stated, or due to context, all inexact calculations should be given to at least 4 significant figures (4 sf) with intermediate results not rounded. Data sets with statistical output will be provided if appropriate to the question.

Content/Context details

Questions will be set in the areas of statistics, probability and modelling all having real-life contexts. There will be an overall theme with an emphasis on data analysis.

Further clarification of the standard

Some questions will have minimal scaffolding where students will be expected to organise their own answers.
