Terms and Conditions - International Qualifications Assessment (IQA)

  1. As the applicant, you must either yourself or through your agent, fill out all compulsory fields in the application form with true and correct information. If not, NZQA may be unable to process the application.
  2. You must send a signed cover sheet to NZQA along with the evidence of the original documentation you are required to provide. 
  3. NZQA will send your International Qualification Recognition Statement by FastPost/Airmail, or courier if you opt for this service. 
  4. International Qualification Recognition Statements are issued for a number of purposes including:
    • Immigration purposes associated with intended residency in New Zealand under the Skilled Migrant Category, clause SM14.35 of the New Zealand Government Residence Policy. 
    • The purpose of carrying out further study in New Zealand, if you can lawfully reside in New Zealand
    • For teaching in New Zealand, if you can lawfully reside in New Zealand and if your qualifications are accepted for teaching purposes by the Education Council Aotearoa/New Zealand.
    • For employment purposes with or without professional recognition. 
  5. If you use your International Qualification Recognition Statement for any other purpose than the purpose for which stated in your application, that use is your sole responsibility. 
  6. If your application is for immigration or teaching purposes, NZQA will share your information with Immigration New Zealand, the Education Council Aotearoa/New Zealand or the Ministry of Education, or other government agencies as appropriate.
  7. If your application contains any false statements, provides any false or misleading information, omits any relevant information, or is altered in any unauthorised manner, your application may be declined or your International Qualification Recognition Statement may be revoked.
  8. If the awarding institution of your nominated qualification is not accredited by the national accrediting body for the country involved, or if the accreditation details of the awarding institution of your nominated qualification are not known to NZQA at the time of finalising your application, NZQA will issue an International Qualification Recognition Statement which notes this fact. 
  9. You must inform NZQA of any changes to your email and/or physical address during the application process to ensure that correspondence is correctly delivered.  NZQA is not responsible for inaccurate email and/or physical address details or if there are email, postal or courier consignment problems. NZQA does not accept responsibility for non-delivery of your International Qualification Recognition Statement. 
  10. You must have the lawful right to use the credit card provided for payment.
  11. Your application will not commence until full payment of the application fee is made to and confirmed by NZQA through the online system. If the payment is stopped or reversed for any reason, you remain liable to NZQA for payment of the application fee, along with any collection costs if applicable.
  12. If the information you submit is not complete, NZQA will notify you via your nominated email and/or physical address. If required information has not been provided within six months NZQA will close your application. A partial refund may be requested on your behalf, though the amount is at the discretion of NZQA. A full application fee is payable if a new application is submitted at a later date.
  13. Partial refunds may be requested, though amounts will be at the discretion of NZQA. However, if you have paid the fast track application fee and NZQA fails to meet the processing timeframe (20 working days), a refund of the fast track fee is available.

Privacy Statement

NZQA will hold your application information for the relevant period of time required under the Public Records Act 2005, and then dispose of it in accordance with that Act. The information may be held in digital format at 125 The Terrace, Wellington, 6140, New Zealand, or at any other official repository. 

NZQA may share your information with other government agencies and the Education Council of Aotearoa/New Zealand. NZQA can also share your information with any agent that you nominate, until such time as you give NZQA notice that it should no longer share your information with that agent.

If you provide forged, false, misleading, or altered documents or information as part of your application, NZQA reserves the right to provide that information to relevant enforcement authorities in New Zealand or overseas. 

If you are in New Zealand, you have the right to see the information held about you. If you think it is necessary, you may ask for any of the information to be corrected.
