Best Practice Workshops

There are five BPW planned for next term. Best practice workshops are for teachers to improve understanding of national standards through the use of student exemplars. These workshops will:

  • Clarify your understanding of grade boundaries of internally assessed standards.
  • Work with supplied assessment materials including samples of student work.
  • Engage in professional discussion.

Auckland Central 12 May
Nelson 25 May
Christchurch 26 May
Palmerston North 15 June
Wellington 16 June

Registrations

To register for Best Practice Workshops you need to complete the online registration form at least three weeks prior to the workshop.

Senior Secondary Guidelines

The Senior Secondary Guidelines in Education for Sustainability from the TKI website are a useful resource for teachers. They elaborate on the concepts and contain support material on appropriate pedagogy and assessment.

Aspects of Sustainability

Many students are still finding it difficult to link their actions or ideas to an aspect of sustainability when writing a report for an internally assessed standard. They could also do this by explaining how an action contributes to a sustainable future. Superficial statements on 'increasing diversity' or 'reducing waste' are insufficient at level 2.
