Background

In 2016, NZQA National Qualifications Services (NQS) conducted a review of unit standards in the AET and GET subfields to support the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 4) [Ref 2746], and New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) [Ref 2993].

NQS has now begun the review of the remaining standards in these subfields to ensure the unit standards remain fit for purpose and meet the needs of the sector. A review panel was selected in April 2017 that reflects the balance of the sector. The panel have:

  • expertise in adult education and training
  • understanding of the needs of adult learners
  • commitment to the use of unit standards as assessment tools in programmes
  • commitment to open communication, collaborative problem solving, and team work.
