Review of Adult Education and Training and Generic Education and Training unit standards

Current developments

In 2017, NZQA National Qualifications Services (NQS) reviewed standards in the Adult Education and Training and Generic Education and Training subfields to ensure the unit standards remain fit for purpose and meet the needs of the sector.

After consultation, the following suite of reviewed standards were approved for listing in October 2017:

This review followed two others that took place to provide a unit standards-based pathway to the following qualifications:

Transition period

Standard 21981 has been designated expiring with a last date for assessment of 31 December 2020. This transition period allows time for providers to adjust their programmes and resources to the new versions of the standards.

Previous versions of reviewed standards have a last date for assessment of 31 December 2019.

Main changes to the standards

  • Standard 21981 was designated expiring without replacement.
  • The credit values and levels have been amended to better reflect the level of the content in the standards and the amount of work required.
