6.2 NZDipBus Accreditation Requirements
6.2.1 Accreditation of teaching institutions
A teaching institution may apply individually or in association with another teaching institution to NZQA for accreditation to offer NZDipBus programmes. Applicants must satisfy NZQA in respect of the following criteria:
- establishment of one or more local advisory committees
- adoption of internal policies and procedures consistent with these rules and procedures
- a sufficient number of qualified staff to provide for effective tuition and assessment
- adequate accommodation, equipment, and library resources
- a statement of support from the controlling authority of the teaching institution
- any other matters published in NZQA's accreditation guidelines.
In seeking accreditation to offer NZDipBus papers, teaching institutions must submit an outline of their proposed assessment procedures and internal quality management mechanisms.
Teaching institutions shall have internal rules and procedures governing assessment (including assessment of prior learning), credit transfers, aegrotat passes, recounts, return of scripts, misconduct or breach of rules in examinations, appeals, and pre-requisites. The internal rules and procedures shall be submitted to NZQA at the time of making application for accreditation or re-accreditation.
6.2.2 Accreditation outcomes
NZQA may, in accordance with its guidelines:
- approve the institution to teach all prescriptions in the course
- give partial approval to teach specified prescriptions in the course
- not approve the institution to offer any prescriptions.
6.2.3 Withdrawal of accreditation
Approval to offer any paper may be withdrawn at any time by NZQA upon due cause.
6.2.4 Appeals
If accreditation to offer any paper is withdrawn, the teaching institution may appeal the decision. The procedures under which the appeal will be conducted will be determined by NZQA.
