Feedback: Development of Whānau Ora assessment standards

The new Whānau Ora assessment standards were submitted for quality assurance for listing on the Directory of Assessment Standards in May 2018.

Māori Qualifications Services invites you to provide feedback on six new Level 4 assessment standards in Whānau Ora.

Feedback received will be used by the Whakaruruhau to further develop the standards and ensure that the new standards meet the needs of the sector.


We invite comment on any aspect of these developed standards. Please send your responses to NZQA Māori Qualifications Services by close of business, Friday 6 April 2018.

Important note: The draft versions of these standards are for feedback purposes only. No assessment can occur against this version of these standards until the listed versions are published.

Level 4




New 1

Develop and implement relationships and communication whānau ora strategies to achieve whānau ora


New 2

Explain whānau ora in terms of the role of the practitioner, and explain te pono me te tika ā-whānau


New 3

Explain, develop and implement a whānau-centred approach that supports the needs of whānau


New 4

Compile a whānau database that identifies ngā pūkenga ā whānau


New 5

Develop, implement, and monitor a whānau ora plan in collaboration with whānau


New 6

Self-manage own practice and performance as a whānau ora practitioner
