Emergency Funding for International Students
Work and Income (within the Ministry of Social Development) is making funding available for international students in New Zealand who can’t support themselves financially or return home due to COVID-19.
The Emergency Benefit will be available for eligible temporary visa holders for a limited time from 1 December 2020 to 28 February 2021.
The funding is designed to assist students and other temporary visa holders with their basic living costs.
However, international students on sponsored visas or with a sponsored condition on their visa, are not eligible. Applicants also need to be over 16 years of age.
Further information, including the full eligibility criteria and details about the application process, is available from the Work and Income website.
