Ministry of Education release Ka Hikitia and Tau Mai Te Reo

20 Jul 2020

The Ministry of Education has released important strategies setting out the strategic direction for Māori education and Māori language in education – along with the actions needed to achieve equitable outcomes for Māori learners.

Ka Hikitia is the Māori Education Strategy and Tau Mai Te Reo is the Māori Language in Education Strategy.

NZQA welcomes the release of the two strategies, which will help Māori to achieve educational success as Māori.

In addition, NZQA is currently seeking feedback on Te Kōkiritanga and Takiala Pasifika, which are NZQA’s strategic action plans for Māori and Pacific learner success.

Te Kōkiritanga and Takiala Pasifika support the overarching Ministry strategies and the 30-year education vision. Consultation on these two strategies closes on 29 July.
